Umm al Quaiwain
Umm al Quaiwain
is three times bigger than Ajman, but still the second smallest Emirate. It
covers only
777 km2, what is the equivalent of about 1% of the entire UAE. Here
are living 60.000 people. That means that Umm al Quaiwain is the smallest
Emirate in respect of residents. The reason is that it is very small, too far
away from the economically successful Dubai and last but not least the Emirate
who is least developed.
Umm al Quaiwain
has no oil reserves and the main economy is still the fishing industry and
agriculture. Here you can find downtown (if you want to described it that way)
still unpaved roads with free sheeps and goats. It gives you an impression how
all the other Emirates may have looked like 50 years ago.
On the way further north you find some lonely beaches and some (not very comfortable) hotels. An attraction is the Dreamland water park. There are 14 water slides.
