The city of Cape Town is outside the shop-hours quite unsafe, thats the reason I can't tell you very much about this area. Best time for visiting is monday to saturday within the shop-hours. I can't recommend you a visit on sundays.

Worth seeing is a round trip through the Long Street, the old night club district of Cape Town. The V&A Waterfront has subtracted a lot of pubs and bars unfortunately, but it is still worth to visit this street. You can find also during the day a lot of beautiful old houses of the colonial era.. Sometimes it looks like in England.

The height of the citybowl are the "Gardens". This former vegetable garden is nowadays the green lung of the city. Besides you have a great view onto Table Mountain.

A visit of the old Castle of Good Hope is not absolute necessary, even though it is the oldest building of Cape Town. Today there are some museums. This is perhaps a possibility for a rainy day, but you won't have a lot of these days.
